MY JOURNEY: January 28, 2019 Loving God

PROVERBS 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

When you love GOD with all of your heart your steps are orchestrated by Him. Doors open that you didn’t open, other doors close that you did not shut. Things work out.

2018 was a very trying year for me and a very learning year, there are still some loose ends but I am OK with them. 2019 began with unforeseen opportunities; things that would thrust me into the direction I want to go in. BUT these opportunities were developing into a distraction. Fortunately, I caught myself.

Sometimes we reach a point in our journey in which we think: “I got this!” No, you don’t, YHWH has it and is directing your steps, follow Him.  Missteps are taken when you take your eyes off of Him; you can get caught in the minutia and miss the main thing.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a reminder of where the idea for your success comes from, it was a reminder to me. People may have presented me with opportunities but it was YHWH that orchestrated their placement in my path. BUT, these individuals have their own plans and their own purpose.

PROVERBS 19:21 THE EXPANDED BIBLE
People can make all kinds of plans, but only the Lord’s ·plan [purpose; advice] will ·happen [succeed].

I have to always, always, always, go back to Matthew 6:33, seek first the kingdom of God. YHWH will never have you do anything that puts him as #2 in your life, not even your marriage. Thus, GOD may have opened the door but follow the Lord as you walk through it.

Lately I have been waking up to text messages, phone calls and even messages via messenger and I have rushed through my quiet time with ABBA in order to respond to these questions and request. It was clear that I was acting as if I had everything under control. I felt myself begin to worry. Where did that come from? It came from not putting Him first.

NETTIE-OLOGY: THE PROBLEM WITH ATHLETES, and other television types

NETTIOLOGY: It is clear professional athletes do not represent the team or the state in which they play for; forget about representing the country! Today's athlete is more about self-indulgence.  Today's athlete seeks personal glory and not personal integrity. Today’s athlete is about being popularly correct but not biblically correct.

 I SPEAK IN GENERAL TERMS.

They, today’s athletes, kneel not in submission but rebellion to the Flag of the United States of America, which represents the people.

Some refuse to visit the White House so that the American representative, our President, can show America's appreciation of their abilities.  This is disrespectful to the country, the state they represent and the team which deserves the honor given,  just as they receive a trophy.

The attention many athletes receive from their less than glorious off-field / court antics gives them notoriety that strokes their egos. They see this as positive attention which encourages them to do more of the same no matter how it effects others.

I was reading today how some of the team members of the RED SOX are refusing to go to the White House as is customary when a team becomes the best of that particular sport; they are anti-Trumpers I guess. The one thing these foolish individuals are not considering is this: MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT IS AN OPPORTUNITY.

The fact that an individual has preconceived notions regarding anyone’s personality reveals a character flaw that should not be ignored. A more rational thinking individual would leap at the opportunity to meet man to man with the President and share his thoughts. Of course to present an argument for an opposing view you must have your facts together and recognize your opponents facts; many only know what they are told.  These “Gillette” men are choosing to make a public stance which will give them an opportunity to prove they are “down with the cause”.

Despite all the positive things President Trump has done for this country these men, who represent in a superficial way: their team, state and country, have chosen to remain loyal to themselves. Liberals will use their stance as proof that the President is dividing the nation. Media personalities will exploit their actions using it as proof that President Trump is out of touch with mainstream America. Americans see a group of overpaid individuals dishonoring what this nation stands for.

Their problem is actually bigger than not coming to the White House; eventually all athletes become former athletes. Then what?  These athletes have revealed how vulnerable they are to the opinions of television personalities. Celebrities receive rewards based on popular opinion and not skill and, politicians are recognized for being ultra-liberal. Will, in the future, athletes be honored for how anti-America they can be? Because they do not know the future they have no idea what the unintended consequences of their juvenile actions will be.

To the athletes who refuse to go the White House because President Trump is the leader: Learn the lesson of the college students who went to the White House and ate Fast Food. The opportunity was not in the food they ate the opportunity was the connections they made, and it was not just Donald J Trump!                                                                                                     written Marsha L F Randolph

STILL A BABY CHRISTIAN!

HEBREWS 5:12-13 THE VOICE
By this time, you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet I feel like you want me to reteach you the most basic things that God wants you to know. It’s almost like you’re a baby again, coddled at your mother’s breast, nursing, not ready for solid food. No one who lives on milk alone can know the ins and outs of what it means to be righteous and pursue justice; that’s because he is only a baby.

I am often caught off guard when I hear people older than me, who have been attending church longer than I have, misrepresent the truth that is found in Scripture. I know that I am ignorant to various biblical truths which is why I study so much, ask so many questions, and pray a lot! More often than not, I have been teaching a class of ‘mature’ Believers only to discover the student’s foundation of faith is not solid- they are still babies.

Preaching should be proclaiming the Word not telling people what to think. Once upon a time people brought their personal Bibles to church and read from it as the Pastor spoke. To many churches today make it easy for people not to study their Bibles thus we have generations of individuals quoting ”Pastor” and not Yeshua!

2 TIMOTHY 4:2
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Today’s churches provide distractions in the form of “family centered” activities but do not promote godly lifestyles. Instead of teaching about spiritual warfare the church provides a Halloween alternative to make sure the children do not miss out on getting candy or dressing up- thereby raising more spiritually ignorant people.  Couples activities promote unity to those who just need a marriage tune-up. Statistically speaking these “activities” do not address the needs of the entire church body: spousal abuse, abortion, homosexuality, adultery even gluttony and drug addiction are barely mentioned if at all. The bigger the church, the more activities the less the needs of the people who need help are met- IT IS MY OPINION-please prove me wrong. Yeshua taught us to go after the one, today’s churches focus on the 99.

LUKE 15:4
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

Sugar coated words are coming from the pulpit and Bible Study classes are more social gatherings than Scripture learning contribute to the lack of knowledge  plaguing today’s Believers. There is no motivation for people to seek the Truth.  Yeshua said:

MARK 12:29-31
Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Two things we should be doing. FIRST: Loving YHWH with all of our heart, soul and mind. This means YHWH, GOD, should be a priority every day not just on Saturday or Sunday. SECOND: We should love our neighbor as you love yourself, giving yourself things is not loving yourself it is adorning yourself. Unfortunately, God’s definition of love and man’s definition of love have two different meanings with man’s love being the most popular.

Babies demand their own way. Baby Christians see GOD as a demanding being who has a lot of rules that are hard to follow. God’s rules are not burdensome anymore than the rules our parents had for us as we were growing up, at least there were rules a few generations ago. Today far to many parents are giving in to the demands of their children, catering to their every whim- the church is doing the same. 

It is easy to be a baby Christian in many churches today. As I listen to Christians I see the consequences of sugar coated preaching.

MATTHEW 7:21
 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Many people live a comfortable life but they do not live their best life because they don’t know the full gospel. Church attendance is not about being entertained it is about learning YHWH’s requirements for living on earth as they live in heaven.

I am often forced to adjust how I communicate with adults because they do not possess the maturity to hear various truths. Even in my tax preparation business- people do not want to hear what they do not know because they do not want to be accountable.

SWEARING ON THE BOOK

NETTIE-OLOGY : Does it matter which book a person swears on?

There is much-a-do about nothing going on! As Political Leaders take the oath of office they are not putting their hands on a Bible. I don’t understand why people are upset by this.

MATTHEW 5:33-37 THE VOICE
You know that God expects us to abide by the oaths we swear and the promises we make. But I tell you this: do not ever swear an oath. What is an oath? You cannot say, “I swear by heaven”—for heaven is not yours to swear by; it is God’s throne. And you cannot say, “I swear by this good earth,” for the earth is not yours to swear by; it is God’s footstool. And you cannot say, “I swear by the holy city Jerusalem,” for it is not yours to swear by; it is the city of God, the capital of the King of kings. You cannot even say that you swear by your own head, for God has dominion over your hands, your lips, your head. It is He who determines if your hair be straight or curly, white or black; it is He who rules over even this small scrap of creation. You need not swear an oath—any impulse to do so is of evil. Simply let your “yes” be “yes,” and let your “no” be “no.”

Let your “yay” be “yes” and “nay” be “no”; you are either going to do what you are supposed to do or not. Politically leaders have a reputation of saying they are going to do one thing and do another weather they swear on a Bible or not!

Why would a person be content if a Muslim swears on the Quran? Why is it a problem if an atheist swears on a law book? That does not make sense to me!  If you voted for a non-believer does it make you feel better to know they swore on the Bible?
