I remember when the trend of “loving your body” first came out. Motivational speakers were encouraging women to look at themselves naked in a mirror. Do you really have to look at yourself naked to know that you have lumps and bumps? Loving your naked body has nothing to do with accepting who you are. Learning how to accept who you are will help you appreciate how you are built.
Negative attitudes manifest in a person’s health and may not be picked up when you look in the mirror. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, headaches, high blood pressure, stomach pains, loss of appetite and so many other things can be a result of ugly ideologies. Often angry people do not realize how bad they look to others.
When a person can let go of emotions such as hate it brings an inner peace that leads to physical healing. In the Bible Scripture tells us to cast our cares on the Lord(1 Peter 5:7); it also tells us to think on good things (Philippians 4:8). You cannot see love in a mirror but people who have loving personalities are beautiful “in the eyes of the beholder.”
Even if you like what you see in the mirror there is not a guarantee you will be happy. When I used to work with special needs children I was always amazed at how content they were despite their physical disadvantages. When I think about all of the surgeries Michael Jackson had it is apparent that loving how you look on the outside does not equate to being content with who you are.
There was also a saying “your attitude will determine your altitude.” The key to improving your physical body is working on the inside first. If you love who you are you will love how you are.

This is not a how to blog but a "You Can Do" blog. Here I will share my journey as I make quilts, carry-all-bags, and ragdolls. I will also discuss, sewing garments, knitting, crocheting, and soap making as well as gardening and cooking; all of these things I consider myself not a beginner but still a novice. I am a beginner at using the cricket maker.
