A MATTER OF FAITH: LOVE SICK FOR JESUS - SONG OF SOLOMON Chapter 2

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:4
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

To experience the love of God is incomparable because He is love and without Him love could not exist. When we accept Jesus as the only begotten Son of Creator God and allow Him to be Lord of our life He brings us into the Kingdom of God- the “banqueting house”. Existing in the kingdom becomes the banner in which believers walk in.

JOHN 14:16, 26
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Love is a value and it is valuable.  Love is the greatest value that can be placed upon anyone. God wraps us in His love.

JOHN 15:9-10 THE VOICE
I have loved you as the Father has loved Me. Abide in My love. Follow My example in obeying the Father’s commandments and receiving His love. If you obey My commandments, you will stay in My love.

This is where we should want to be, as clse to Him as possible. We should abide, maintain contact, with our Father in heaven through our Lord Jesus with the help of the Spirit of God.

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:5-7
Sustain me with cakes of raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick. His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me. I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases.

We should be lovesick for Jesus! Our desire for Him should be greater than our desire for food or people.

PSALM 84:10
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
PSALM 16:11
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

It takes time to develop a relationship but God wants one with you.

JOHN 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The King of kings came to earth. He came that you might have life and more abundantly (John 10:10).

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:8-17
The Shulamite
The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills. My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; he is looking through the windows, gazing through the lattice.
My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!
“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.”
Her Brothers
Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.
The Shulamite
My beloved is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies.
(To Her Beloved)
Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag upon the mountains of Bether.
It is not enough to go to the alter and recite words. A marriage is more than a white dress and a tuxedo; being born again is more than telling people “I am saved”. It is a never ending commitment that begins from within and manifest in words and deeds.

EPHESIANS 5:25-27 THE VOICE
Husbands, you must love your wives so deeply, purely, and sacrificially that we can understand it only when we compare it to the love the Anointed One has for His bride, the church. We know He gave Himself up completely to make her His own, washing her clean of all her impurity with water and the powerful presence of His word.  He has given Himself so that He can present the church as His radiant bride, unstained, unwrinkled, and unblemished—completely free from all impurity—holy and innocent before Him.

You have to be passionate for Jesus because He is passionate for you.

Song of Solomon is about God’s commitment to His children; it is both public and private. The question is: What type of relationship do you have with Him?

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:4 THE VOICE
He placed me at his banquet table, for everyone to see that his banner over me declares his love.
