FAITH MATTERS: DO YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE IS WITHOUT ERROR?

Far to often I am hearing young people declare that the Bible is just a man-made doctrine. These individuals have grown up watching the hypocrisy displayed by the various church leaders and family members who attend church regularly (at least once a week). They hear how one church endorses a lifestyle and another church condemn it. They have, understandably so, rejected all things related to the Bible. These young people believe there is a God they just don’t know who He is.
 



All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.         2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17




The Bible is God’s inspired word and God’s required principles for living. Everything from Genesis to Revelation is relevant and accurate. If you are a Christian and do not believe the 66 books within the great book are all accurate and relevant your faith is weak and can be swayed by man’s doctrines.

Many Christians doubt the validity of Scripture not just today’s youth. They hear the interpretations of men and women who have various levels of education from schools of theology  or a reputation for quoting Scripture as if he is well informed. Christians do not search the Scripture to see if theses speakers are accurate.

Some people, saints and sinners, listen to those who manipulate Bible verses to accommodate a particular lifestyle. Those individuals have a vested interest in believing the lie just in case there is a heaven or hell. It is easier to listen to a person explaining why God thinks your sinful behavior is OK than to search the Scripture for yourself.

MATTHEW 7:15
 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
A prophet is a person who speaks God’s word; a false prophet speaks God’s word incorrectly, they lie. The world has experienced decades of men and women who do not present God’s word as He called it to be.

1 CORINTHIANS 3:18-19
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;

There is a difference between church doctrine and Bible truths. A doctrine is a specific ideology based on an interpretation. An example of church doctrine is what a woman wears.
 Deuteronomy 22:5 (KJV) The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. 
Does that mean a woman should not wear pants? What Jesus wore in his time would have been considered a dress today. It is the believers’ responsibility to be sure their understanding of Scripture is interpreted in the context that it was written. Women should dress like women and men should dress like men. Women can wear pants designed for women but there are churches that teach women not to wear pants.

We have so many denominations today because of church doctrinal differences. There are a lot of ignorant people speaking from the pulpit with loyal followers who quote the ignorance. When I became a part of a local Vineyard church it was after carefully studying the church doctrine from the “corporate” site, however how the corporate vision was presented and how it was carried out locally was subject to the Senior Pastor’s discretion. The differences in service style from one Vineyard church to another is an example of how church doctrine can be interpreted differently, the same is true for Scripture.

Today there is a proliferation of biblical opinions based on the understanding of man. I am not writing that church leaders are wrong only that the Bible is right.

The Bible does not contradict itself, the Old and New Covenant agree with each other. As long as a person’s interpretation is accurate the understanding is accurate. The Bible is infallible, without error, to follow Yeshuah Hamashiah you must believe this is true.   written by Marsha L F Randolph
