TEACHERS TODAY.....

NETTIE-ISM: How can a child grow up to be a rational responsible adult surrounded by lazy liberals?

I have noticed, for a few years now, the standards of todays educators being lowered. Academically, what we called teachers but are now refereed to as educators (as if a more sophisticated title will make them seem smarter, students are taught to pass standardized test and are given workbooks that simulate what the test will ask. I am guessing, lesson plans are more fill in the blank than create math problems, spelling words, history assignments and such based on what the students are having trouble learning.

Who remembers back to school supplies being a big 3 binder notebook, looseleaf paper, dividers and pencils?  Who remembers having to write spelling words every day in preparation for the spelling test on Friday? Who remembers being drilled the times table until you knew them by heart? I suspect most of the teachers today did not have to endure such trials and tribulations. Spelling and math drills are out and costly school supplies are in.

I remember searching every store, literally, for a teal colored file folder with tabs for my daughter’s while she was in high school. She had to get 6 of these file folders, each a different color. One parent found what I and other parents could not and had, mercifully, purchased enough for the class.

I remember buying back to school supplies for my granddaughter, when she was in kindergarten, she had to have 32 boxes of Kleenex; we are a family that rarely gets sick, one box could have lasted her the entire year.

Teachers complain about the large some of money they spend on school supplies, SUPPLIES THEY SAY THEY NEED TO TEACH! (Yes, I am yelling.) The supply list makes it easier for them to do whatever it is they do but does it really make the children smarter? Maybe getting rid of the 3 ring binder with 500 sheets of loose-leaf paper and getting 6 spiral notebooks, 6 folders, multi-colored pens, pencils (I don’t think they use #2s anymore) and the laundry list of other supplies make sense to those born after 1980 but for people like me it doesn’t.

School uniforms, of which I am not a fan of, was also supposed to help. Unfortunately, many schools have dress codes for the students but it seems the teachers have the right to dress as casually as they can. Though the teachers are not dressed in what I would classify as “sexy” clothing to many of them are dressed in what could be considered sloppy wear. I could actually see them leaving work, teaching, and going home to work in the garden.

It is unfortunate that many of the teachers that were hardworking, not complaining, professionally dressed and knew how to teach have left public schools and now are in work in private schools or have retired. The veterans I talk to say they could not deal with what teachers, excuse me “educators” have to deal with today. Translation: Today’s Educators do not teach they indoctrinate children to think a particular way- right or wrong.

Our educational system from pre-school to doctoral programs is the direct result of liberal ideology. The proof is in the Common Core fiasco!
It was degreed individuals that came up with the theory that an education overhaul had to be done and it was degreed individuals that developed the program and the text books. It was individuals who graduated from institutions of higher learning that are now teaching the children through out the land.   The result of Common Core is the lack of knowledge our young people have upon graduation.

COMMON CORE IS AN UNDENIABLE FAILURE! Non-liberal old schoolers knew that when we first saw it!

If you add into the equation: Parents that do not know how to parent, the result is what you see now- irrational, irresponsible people.
