PROVERBS 5:19 (King James Version)
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
The imagery is not unsexy for sure. But this book, SONG OF SOLOMON, is not about what the world thinks of intamcy thus there is no need to run to Victoria’s secret to dress for the occasion. We will be looking at God’s love for us and prayerfully taking our love for him deeper.

This book is believed to be written by Solomon around 965 BC. Why is this important? In determining the context in which something is written the more one knows about the author and the circumstances in which the words were presented the more accurate the interpretation. Knowing that Solomon is the author, a man who was known for his skill in writing songs and his apparent love of women, the passion found within the book is easily seen, I doubt if Jeremiah would right something this sexy.
This book is also refered to as “The Song of Songs” (derived from the Hebrew ”the most excellent of song”)or “Canticles”. I had never heard it referred to as canticles which means ‘songs,’ a Latin term.
How do we read this book? I knew of 2 ways before beginning this study: as a story of the relationship between a man and a woman or between Christ and His followers. Apparently there are more than five interpretations my Bible examines five.
Allegorical- In order to accept this interpretation you must not take the words literrally. What is written represents another concept.
Typological -This is what those who believe the words represent Christ and the church, Israel.
Anthology of love songs - It is what it is; a collection of songs, love songs.
Three-character intepretation- In this interpretation Solomon is not seen as a positive influence. He, Solomon is trying to pull the maiden away from the shepherd.
Literal love story - The story between Solomon and the unknown maiden.
It is not our responsibility to determine who is right or wrong. It is important to trust the Spirit of God to reveal what it is you need to know. — written by Marsha L F Randolph
