I have been to grieved to post my usual Sunday post. Despite have written over 2,000 words nothing seemed write. I paused and in my stillness I heard the voice of the people. My political opinion is based on my reading of Scripture. The following is unedited thus it is my opinion as it flowed from my heart...
YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE DISAGREEABLE.
ACTS 7:6
But God spoke in this way: that his descendants would dwell in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage and oppress them four hundred years.
When things happen I go to the Bible it is just that simple. Some things are easier to understand other things require my researching and much prayer. There are things that become obvious simply because the opinion is so extreme that I know it is an attack from the devil. Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun and this is true.
ECCLESIASTES 1:9-11
That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.
These words are repeated often because no one remembers what happened. AND unfortunately many choose not to read a book where the past is written.
I have two opinions based on what is currently going on in the United States of America.
The Hatred of President Trump. Like EVERY PERSON God has called, Donald Trump has flaws. Let me repeat what many of you have heard often: David committed adultery and murder, Solomon had 600 legitimate wives and a host of concubines, Moses committed murder, Elijah did not do everything God told him to do, Thomas doubted, Peter denide Jesus not once but three times, and if you read Scripture you will find more imperfections including the fact that Jesus has a prostitute listed in his lineage-Rahab. But people are upset because Donald Trump tweets!
MATTHEW 12:24-30
Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
Satan does not attack his own. Satan attacks those who have a god given purpose. The amount of nit picking, complaints and other attacks against the President that ran on the idea of Making America Great AGAIN is understandable if you believe their is a heaven to seek and a hell to avoid. Jesus said to the Children of God:
JOHN 15:18
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
There are a lot of Trump haters but the hate should not be coming from Christians because it is written:
1 Corinthians 13:3, 13
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
But those speaking in anger, self-righteousness and or out of ignorance disregard these words; I speak about Christians. John reiterates the imporance of love but with an even more powerful message.
1 John 4:7-16
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
You cannot hate and love at the same time. You may not agree with everything, or anything, President Trump does and says but their are unintended consequences to the lack of love being demonstrated by those who confess Jesus as their Lord.
And so, now I can address the protest. I cannot remember a time when Black people were not looking for justice from white people. They expected White people to give them what God has already given them. Now I know those who don’t believe will not understand this but I suspectmost religions encourage their followers to trust their god. Again it is written:
PHILIPPIANS 4:19
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
So why are Black people angry? Becuase they do not understand Acts 7:6. If they studied Exodus, if the Pastors would preach a message other than the getting something for nothing message, they would know the children of Israel endured slavery for 400 years. In addition, they spent another 40 years walking in circles because they kept complaining. Black people were enslaved less than 400 years but have been walking in circles for more than 40 years because they want to look back and they want to put their lives in the control of man.
HEBREWS 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
One of the major problems I am having right now is the fact that grown folks are leading young folks down the path towards more bnadage.
ISAIAH 54:13
All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.
Does it look like our children have peace? OF COURSE NOT! Because what the adults have been doing has not been working- it has made them financially rich but spiritually poor.
MATTHEW 16:26
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
I listen to the words of people around me. I watch the news (not a lot but enough) and I hear the Spirit of God saying:
2 CHRONICLES 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
What we see today is people foloowing the loudest voice. Many of the athletes, entertainers and politicians lack the humility needed to speak publicly on the things that concern this world. Unfortunately, church leaders have bills to pay and many have made a decision not to share the full gospel.
PSALM 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
