A MATTER OF FAITH: WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT

PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.  The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Despite the wars and rumors of wars, even though there are fires, hurricanes and earthquakes, it is important that Believers give a greater portion of their thought to the Word of God. Let me say it another way: Believers must give more thought, now, to the things of God than that which is in the world.

1 JOHN 2:16
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Disregard the comments about Negative News (often referred to as ‘Fake News’) remeber the good news of Jesus.

ACTS 14:7 THE EXPANDED BIBLE
They ·announced the Good News [preached the Gospel] there, too.

Philippians 4:8-9 is not teaching believers to ignore what is happening but to focus on God’s will.

ISAIAH 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

The things of this world will become a distraction if you let it. But, we know beause it is written in 1 John 2:16 that the things of this world will fall into three catagories: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride in stuff; none of these things should concern a believer.

MATTHEW 6:31-34 THE VOICE
So do not consume yourselves with questions: What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? Outsiders make themselves frantic over such questions; they don’t realize that your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things will be given to you too. So do not worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow worry about itself. Living faithfully is a large enough task for today.

Again the word of God tell us not to worry or be concerned with the same things as the people in this world are focused on. We are to: “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.”

ISAIAH 26:3  THE EXPANDED BIBLE
You, Lord, ·give [preserve/keep in] ·true peace [complete peace; L- peace, peace]·to those who depend on you [T- whose mind is stayed on you; L- whose purpose is firm], because they trust you.
Christianity is a lifestyle not just a response to emergencies. Jesus said: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27) Father God does not expect Christians to follow the media or respond as the world does. God knows what is going on in the world and has made provisions for us to live in peace despite what is happening. The Expanded Bible version of Isaiah 26:3 declares that we have peace if we trust Father God.

The question is: WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT? What are you dedicating the majority of your time to?  Finally my brothers and sisiters I share this word with you:

PROVERBS 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
