A HODGE -PODGE OF THOUGHTS

MY JOURNEY: December 3-16, 2018 I have been thinking about a lot of stuff.

COMPLAINTS & COMPLEMENTS
PSALM 16:1 THE COMPLETE JEWISH BIBLE
I bless Adonai, my counselor; at night my inmost being instructs me.
Yesterday (December 2)I was complaining because the dryer broke. The repairman has been in earlier to fix the machine and after my husband washed and dried his clothes it broke again! (Or was it fixed correctly?) But then, as I began hanging the wet clothing outside I began to notice how beautiful the sky was and how gentle the breeze was.
As I began appreciating the beauty of the evening I began praising YHWH! WOW! To think I was contemplating going to the laundry-mat and miss out on such a wonderful night. Why was I complaining again? Silly me, I turned my complaints to complements and praise.
Then on December 13 my refrigerator started acting up! Oh my!! It took a few days and a phone call but I fixed it! I did not get angry or frustrated, I knew that GOD knew that I needed to keep stuff cold.

DRESSING MODESTLY
1 TIMOTHY 2:9-10
Likewise, the women, when they pray, should be dressed modestly and sensibly in respectable attire, not with elaborate hairstyles and gold jewelry, or pearls, or expensive clothes.  Rather, they should adorn themselves with what is appropriate for women who claim to be worshiping God, namely, good deeds.

I prefer dressing conservatively. I don’t need to cover my face unless I am in the middle of a dust storm or blizzard but you don’t need to know where my curves are or what color my hair is. I have never been comfortable criticizing Muslim women who cover their bodies; I do not appreciate women going to the beach in swim wear that only covers their nipples and their ‘glory’ (pubic region). Because I am not in competition with any woman and I do not want or need the lustful attention of a man (or woman these days)I tend to cover up.

GENESIS 24:65 THE COMPLETE JEWISH BIBLE
She said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” When the servant replied, “It’s my master,” she took her veil and covered herself.
Many women, old and young, consider it a great idea to show off their bodies. In Genesis 24 Rebekah sees Issac her soon to be husband approaching. The only thing he needed to see was her face, there were characteristics, qualifications, more important to a man who wanted a wife than her appearance.  Even if he is “the one” he does not need to see what he is getting physically before he knows what he is getting intellectually. (And a ‘buff’ man does not make a equate to a great husband.)

HEBRAIC ROOTS vs THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH

ROMANS 12:2 THE VOICE
Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete.
I am still developing an understanding of this aspect of my faith thus my mind is being renewed day by day with new truths and corrections.  Sometimes I come across teachings that I am not familiar with and when I research it, I am speaking of Hebraic Roots teachings, there is a difference in interpretation- actually the same is true for traditional Christianity as well.

There are unique doctrines associated with various Torah Following believers of Yeshua as well as the Hebraic Roots movement group. How intense into the practices of the Old Covenant are these various groups?

All things are subject to interpretation. Christmas is a biggie!  (See my post AM I A PAGAN?) I know that Christmas is a man-made event celebrated on a man-made date and has become commercialized- so has church attendance! For every Bible verse that one ministry points out why something should be done the opposing viewpoint has Bible verse that prove their way is correct.

That is why it is a journey- every road brings a new perspective of what lies ahead.
