Don’t answer the question because I already know the answer. No, you did not tell your Church Leader a lie outright, nor did you tell your Church Leader the truth. For me the bigger question is directed towards the Church Leader: Are you so busy telling people what to believe that you are not paying attention to the fact that they are not taking your word for it?
“Don’t tell Pastor!” A friend of mine instructed me as she smoked a cigarette. I didn’t.
I was at a friends house and she had placed the wine in a “discreet” place so that the deacon who was visiting would not see it. Really????
How many couples attend church and the Pastor does not know they live together?
Church Leaders are busy planning messages for the masses but not paying attention to the lives of those under their care. I was in an abusive marriage and my Pastor did not know until I left. The person I know who runs a pregnancy counseling center told me she has counseled many Church attending Bible believing women who had planned on having an abortion including a Pastor’s wife (No, they did not abort their babies). Church leaders don’t ask and parishioners don’t tell.
Even I find it difficult to inform my Pastor about things BUT, there are pictures on Instagram of me smoking cigars with a glass of wine or liquor; the church is so small that she knows when I am not there, and I have been known to vent on Facebook thus if you really want to know about me the information is out there. Some people in order to know you have to ask.
I guess the real question is: Is the church ignoring the needs of the people?
