Now that I am studying the Hebraic Roots Movement I have discovered a new group of “non-denominational, non-legalisting” legalistic denominations. Most of the people I have been listening to, thanks to YouTube, teach as if everyone else has got it wrong and 'this is what the Torah really means". Like their Christian counterparts, these leaders of the faith firmly believe they have got it right.
Where do I stand? I am a follower of Yeshua Hamashiach; I may not spell His name the way other people do because, there seems to be multiple ways of spelling JESUS, Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic or Modern English. Because I follow Him who was born Jewish I cannot ignore the teachings he grew up learning- Judaism. Yeshua grew up learning the commandments of YHWH therefore I must also know them.
That said, I PERSONALLY believe, that means you can reject this ideology, that there are some laws that I do not have to follow and there are some precepts that I may adhere to that may not be applicable to others. Notice I wrote: “laws and precepts”, some teach commandments, laws and precepts re equal thus all must be obeyed except the sacrifices- I do not.
As I pray and research various beliefs that I have or have been taught I write it down for others to read. I do not know all the commandments, laws and precepts presented in Scripture, at least not specifically. What I do know is what Jesus said and what was written by John.
MARK 12:29-31
Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
1 JOHN 4:8
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
It is all about: Who do you love???? If you go to church on Sunday. If you eat pork. If a woman runs around with her head uncovered. If a person is in a homosexual relationship after having an abortion. The first question is DO YOU LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND SOUL?
Before we even deal with our interactions with others, whom we are supposed to love not lust after, our relationship with YHWH needs to be perfected.
JOHN 14:15 THE TREE OF LIFE VERSION
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
If I have to keep His commandments I have to know what they are and believe them which means I have to study the Scripture for myself. Clearly, no one really knows except the Spirit reveals it to Him. written by Marsha L F Randolph
